“Ernie the Easter Hippopotamus,” which was written and illustrated by Glenn Logan Reitze, is still my all-time favorite book, even though it was, of course, designed for very young children, and of course they too love the book. But its story really applies to persons of any age, since its all about doing your own favorite thing, and not being stopped by others who don’t understand what you’re trying to do. And the pictures are very, very well drawn and colored — they almost make you believe that hippopotamuses and rhinoceros really can dance, and that crocodiles and hippos can be friends!
