A Blue Tower of Hercules for World Diabetes Day

Filed Under (Health, Special Days) by Conchi on 10-11-2009

torre de hercules blueThe Tower of Hercules, A Coruña’s most famous monument, will turn blue at night on  Friday 13th November in support of World Diabetes Day.

Diabetes is a common condition that affects many people. There are two main types of diabetes:

  • Type 1 – usually affects children and adults up to the age of 40. It is treated with insulin injections, a healthy diet and regular physical activity.
  • Type 2 – usually affects people over the age of 40 and it is treated with a healthy diet and regular physical activity, sometimes insulin may also be required. Type 2 diabetes is becoming more frequent in young people because of unhealthy diets and very little physical activity.

Everyone can benefit from healthy eating and regular exercise. Take care of your body, it’s the only one you’ve got!
